De virtuele wereld staat verre van stil. De snelle technische evoluties zorgen echter ook voor heel wat uitdagingen binnen het forensische werkveld. De dossiers rond seksueel kindermisbruik op het internet zijn daar een goed voorbeeld van. Maar, heeft u al wel eens het idee dat er een aantal - vaak nogal technische - aspecten zijn binnen dit gegeven die u de wenkbrauwen doen fronsen?
Vraagt u zich bijvoorbeeld wel eens af in hoeverre iemand 'per ongeluk' op kinderporno kan botsen online, in hoeverre iemand misbruikbeelden kan 'vinden' op het 'gewone' internet, hoe P2P-netwerken nu precies in elkaar zitten, wat TOR (niet) is, of wat het 'dark web' precies inhoudt? Sluit dan zeker aan bij onze nieuwe ochtendlezing!
Het UFC nodigt de federale politie uit om meer uitleg te geven over seksueel kindermisbruik op het internet.

Antwerpen ontving eerder deze maand de jaarlijkse IAFMHS conferentie. Verschillende forensische partners waren aanwezig. Ook het UFC was van de partij en verzorgde een post-conferentie workshop (diagnostiek en behandeling van parafilie en hyperseksualiteit), een aantal presentaties (ROM-onderzoek en beloningsgerelateerd leren bij kindmisbruikers) en postersessies (Stop it Now!).
Op 20 juni hield het UFC zijn jaarlijkse beleidsvergadering. Na een dag van overleg en teambuilding zijn wij alvast klaar voor een nieuw werkjaar!

Journal Club: recidive-onderzoek
Sien Steenhoudt, criminoloog in opleiding (UGent) en stagiaire bij het UFC, bespreekt de moeilijkheden en mogelijkheden van recidiveonderzoek bij seksueel delinquenten in België.

Reeds voor de vierde maal nodigt FIDES (P.C. St-Amandus) Clark Baim uit voor een driedaagse training 'Attachment-based therapeutic interviewing'. Clark Baim heeft als oprichter van Geese Theatre Company in Groot-Brittanië veel ervaring met forensische cliënten. Hij specialiseerde zich de laatste tien jaar in het hechtingsmodel van Patricia Crittenden, het Dynamisch Maturatie Model. Dit is bijzonder bruikbaar in het begrijpen van en werken met gedrag en strategieën die als storend of moeilijk worden ervaren.
